Infant/One year old program

Butterfly classroom

Infants may start at Learn As We Play at 6 weeks of age and transition onto the one year program when they are developmentally ready.  This would be approximately 12 months of age depending on the individual child’s developments.  

The Infant Program offers:

  • Music and singing

  • Individual infant feeding and napping schedules.

  • Open door policy and accommodations for breast feeding infants.

  • Developmentally appropriate sensory experiences

  • The enhancement of fine and gross Motor skills

  • Cognitive Development

  • Social skills

  • Language Skills along with Sign Language Development

  • Holiday craft activities

  • Books and reading

  • Carriage walks

  • Individual cribs

  • Daily sterilization of toys

  • Infant teachers who provide lots of individual attention, cuddles and more…

Toddler One and Two-Year-Old Program

Butterfly ones, Inchworms and Ladybug classrooms

Children enter this program when they are developmentally ready.  This is approximately between the ages of 16 to 36 months. 

The Toddler Program offers:

  • Creative arts and crafts

  • Child initiated toilet training (See potty training packet)

  • Language Development

  • Enhancement of social skills

  • Dramatic Play

  • Books and puzzles

  • Fine motor activities

  • Music and movement

  • Cooking activities

  • Outside time

  • Large motor activities

  • Cognitive Development

  • Developmentally appropriate sensory experiences

  • Two daily snacks supplied with juice and/or milk

  • Milk is served with lunch

  • Circle time

  • Potty Training

  • Caring, nurturing primary caregivers, and much more…

Preschool Program

Grasshopper Classroom

Children in this program have reached the approximate age of 3 years. If a child enters this program that is not fully potty trained the toddler tuition rate will be charged until thechild is fully potty trained. Fully potty trained is when your child can go a minimum of two weeks without an accident.

The Preschool program offers:

  • An age-appropriate curriculum, utilizing themes.

  • Comfortable child-size chairs, tables, and equipment

  • Designated areas for various learning centers and activities

  • Computers

  • Outside Time

  • Dramatic play

  • Two daily snacks supplied with juice and/or milk.

  • Milk is served with lunch.

  • Music and movement

  • Cooking, math, and science

  • Circle Time

  • Climbing and other toys that exercise large muscles.

  • Developmentally appropriate sensory experiences

  • A variety of language-based activities, including books and reading.

  • Social/emotional development

  • Monthly field trips

  • Caring, certified teachers

Pre-K Program

Busy Bee Classroom

Children enter this program the school year before they begin Kindergarten, approximately age 4.

 The Pre-K program offers:

  • Similar activities as preschool, however, individual skills are strengthened.

  • Advanced activities in the skill areas of language, math, and science

  • Increased opportunities for individual, independent learning

  • Peer mediation and problem solving

  • Social/Emotional Development

  • Themed learning centers

  • Free exploration as well as 1 on 1 guidance

  • Journal time

  • Outside Time

  • Two daily snacks supplied with juice and/or milk.

  • Milk is served with lunch.

  • Dramatic play

  • Music and movement

  • Cooking

  • Extended Circle Time

  • Computers

  • Monthly field trips

  • Caring, certified teachers

Kindergarten Program

Busy Bee/Firefly Classrooms

Children enter this program if their 5th birthday is on or before September 30th. 

This program offers:

  • Blended whole language and phonics-based curriculum

  • Journal time to develop language skills.

  • Literacy rich environment

  • Child-oriented environment

  • Learning Centers

  • On-going and hands-on activities

  • Cooking, math, and science

  • Monthly field trips

  • Visits from community members

  • Integrated curriculum based on child-relevant themes.

  • Social, emotional, and moral development

  • Cooperative learning projects

  • Two daily snacks supplied with juice and/or milk.

  • Milk is served with lunch.

  • Outdoor time

  • Computers

  • Peer mediation and problem solving

  • Non-competitive learning environment

  • Reading buddies

  • Caring, Certified Teachers

Before/After School Age Program

or Summer School Age Program

Children from six years old through twelve years may attend the Before/After School Program or Summer School Age Program.  Maple Ave School bus will pick-up and drop-off children in the mornings and afternoons, otherwise parents are responsible for transportation. 

 

The Before/After School Program and the Summer School Age Program offers for both mornings and afternoons:

  1. Arts and crafts activities

  2. Quiet time for reading

  3. Help with homework.

  4. Outside time

  5. An afternoon snack with juice

  6. Weekly themes and activities, including cooking.

Play is an important part of all our programs and day-to-day activities. 

Learn As We Play believes that at whatever age, through play children can…

  3. Learn to be social beings, cooperative and kind.
